About
A filmmaker's eye.
A designer's methodology.
Helping mission-driven organizations find the version of their story that's both true and effective.
Scott Ramsey
Scott Ramsey has spent three decades bridging the gap between people doing important work and the audiences they need to reach. Documentary film. Political organizing. Healthcare communication. AI adoption.
Different worlds, same challenge. Complex, high-stakes work that needs the right strategy, the right story, or the right tools to move forward.
Based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Groundwork Communications brings together the right people for the job: video production, communications strategy, and collaborative problem-solving grounded in human-centered design.
Background
What's Behind the Work
Scott's career spans documentary filmmaking, political organizing, university teaching, and healthcare communication. He helped build organizations that brought new voices into the democratic process. He built training and education programs for healthcare teams. He taught university courses in design, media, and collaborative problem-solving.
The thread connecting all of it: bridging the gap between people who don't naturally speak each other's language. Technical and non-technical. Clinical and administrative. What an organization does and what the outside world understands about it.
The Bridge-Builder
Most consultants come from one world. Tech consultants speak tech. Creative agencies speak marketing. Strategy firms speak strategy. The people who actually need help are usually stuck in the gap between these languages.
My career has been defined by working in that gap. I understand what a filmmaker needs and what a healthcare administrator needs, and I can make those conversations productive. I understand what AI can actually do for an organization and how to talk about it with the people whose jobs are about to change.
That bridge-building capacity is what Groundwork Communications is built on. Not technical expertise for its own sake. Not creative work divorced from strategy. The practical, grounded work of connecting what you do with the people who need to understand it.
Let's talk about your project.
If you're doing work that matters and need help moving it forward, let's talk. I work with a small number of clients at a time so the work gets the attention it deserves.
